Gomis scored in every game in the month as Swansea went unbeaten in their first four matches while Ayew - who signed on a free transfer from Marseille - has settled quickly in the Premier League with three goals and one assist during the Swans impressive start. 

Kolarov has been part of a defence that did not concede a goal in August and he also scored against Everton while United defender Smalling has enjoyed a solid start to the season. He helped United keep three clean sheets during the month in their run of two wins a draw and a defeat.

Mahrez has impressed for Leicester with four goals in four games as they made an unbeaten start while quicksilver Silva is the final contender.
