The second week of the Premier League season threw up plenty of interesting stats. Here's a selection of the best courtesy of our friends at Opta...

Matt Targett had his first ever Premier League shot on target (in the 16th minute).

Romelu Lukaku is now the top scoring Belgian in Premier League history (44), two ahead of Christian Benteke (42).

Lukaku scored more than once in a Premier League game for the first time since November 2013 (v Liverpool).

Two goals from Romelu Lukaku and Ross Barkley's second of the campaign gave Everton a fine 3-0 win.

Saints have now gone eight Premier League matches without a clean sheet, conceding more than once in seven of them.

Ross Barkley scored and assisted in the same Premier League game for the first time in his career.

Jermain Defoe became the 32nd player to make 400 Premier League appearances.

Sunderland have conceded seven goals after two games for the first time since 1970/71, when they played in the second tier.

Wes Hoolahan has assisted three goals in two Premier League games this season.

Nathan Redmond caps easy win as home supporters revolt.

Nathan Redmond has scored five goals in his last six appearances for Norwich.

Norwich scored three times in a PL away game for the first time since a 3-2 win at Man City on the final day of 2012/13.

Sunderland have won just one of their previous seven Premier League games against the Canaries (D2 L4).

Bafetimbi Gomis has scored seven goals in his last eight Premier League appearances.

Daryl Janmaat was sent off for a second bookable offence in the 41st minute; the earliest player to receive two yellows since Chris Smalling (39) v Man City in November 2014.

Newcastle have been shown eight red cards since the start of last season; the most in the Premier League.

Daryl Janmaat off for Newcastle as Swans soar to Liberty Stadium win

Andre Ayew is the first player to score in his first two PL games since Diego Costa and Eric Dier at the start of last season.

Newcastle have lost seven consecutive Premier League away games, equalling their record from October 1999.

Since being promoted to the top-flight, Swansea have collected more points against Newcastle than any other side (20 – W6 D2 L1).

Tottenham 2-2 Stoke

Eric Dier's three Premier League goals have all come in August.

Tottenham have conceded more penalties than any other PL side since the start of last season (8).

Spurs had won their last 74 Premier League home games when they had gone 2+ goals ahead before today; a run that goes back to a 4-4 draw with Leicester in February 2004.

Stoke denied Tottenham their first win of the season as a late fightback saw them snatch a draw.

It was the 14th time in PL history that Spurs (home or away) had failed to win after going at least two goals in front.

The Potters came from two goals down to claim a point for the first time since December 2012 against Southampton and for the first time away since March 2009 at Aston Villa.

Stoke equalled their record for most shots on target in a PL away game (7, also v Wigan in September 2012).

Watford 0-0 West Brom

The Hornets are winless in their last 15 league games against West Brom (D7 L8).

West Brom haven’t lost away to Watford since November 1994, winning four and drawing four of their visits since then.

The Hornets had 16 shots, 10 more than the visitors.

Watford dominated as Premier League football returned to Vicarage Road but were left frustrated.

Odion Ighalo had as many shots as West Brom did (6).

WBA did not hit a single shot on target in this game and have just two after their opening two games.

The Baggies have failed to score in consecutive Premier League games under Tony Pulis for only the second time.

West Ham 1-2 Leicester

Leicester City have won their opening two games of a Premier League season for the first time since 1997/98.

Leicester City have won 28 Premier League points since April 1st 2015; more than any other side.

Since Aug 2010 Dimitri Payet has scored or assisted 93 goals in the top 5 leagues, four more than Mesut Ozil and Juan Mata in that period.

Leicester maintained their 100 per cent start to the new Premier League season by beating West Ham.

West Ham are yet to win consecutive games in 2015.

Leicester ended a run of 20 Premier League games without a win in London.

Marc Albrighton has now equalled his assist haul from last season (three).
