Victor Valdes appears to have secured a move away from Manchester United after saying goodbye to his supporters on social media.

According to reports, Valdes is believed to have secured a loan move to Belgian side Standard Liege, bringing an end to his spell at Old Trafford.

The former Barcelona goalkeeper posted a message on Twitter above a picture of United's training ground saying: "Thank you all for your support during these months of hard work for me. I will never forget! See you soon!"

United's No1 keeper David de Gea reacted to the news by wishing his fellow Spaniard all the best for the future.

"We learn a lot from the best! Good luck my friend in this new stage!" tweeted De Gea.

Spain international Valdes joined United on an 18-month deal a year ago but his career has stalled after a falling out with manager Louis van Gaal.

Dutch boss Van Gaal told the World Cup winner he did not have a future at the club after he allegedly refused to play for the reserves.

He has not played since making a substitute appearance in the final game of last season and was left out of the club's pre-season tour.

Valdes was not given a squad number for this season and was forced to train away from United's first team.

A proposed move to Turkish club Besiktas in the summer collapsed at the 11th hour due to a disagreement over personal terms.

The 34-year-old's agent said in October that it was "obvious he must leave" in the January transfer window.
