Manchester United face Fenerbahce in the Europa League on Thursday with the Turkish side's head coach Dick Advocaat under increasing pressure.

The Dutchman, who resigned as Sunderland boss in October 2015, saw his new team slip to ninth in the Super Lig on Sunday after a disappointing home draw with Alanyaspor.

Fenerbahce have won just two league games in seven and Advocaat admitted that his team has serious problems and has already begun to discuss the idea of his successor.

"If the club thinks they can find a better manager they can do it tomorrow," he said. "I am not here for myself. I am here for the club. It's simple.

"It's very sad. If you want to be at the top then you have to win your home matches. We have to find out what's wrong and I have some ideas on the subject, but this is internal.

"I can only blame myself and the players."

Former Manchester United striker Robin van Persie recently returned from a lengthy injury lay-off but was equally as disappointing as his team-mates.

Advocaat said: "Strikers must score goals. They want to score but they did not. You have to ask, why not?

"If you want to play for the championship you need more. And I don't just mean Van Persie, I mean the total team."

United sit third in Group A after two games, a point behind Fenerbahce who top the group ahead of the meeting at Old Trafford. United lost to Feyenoord in their opening group game before beating Zorya Luhansk last time out while Fenerbahce drew with Zorya and beat Feyenoord.
