Benfica report Ronaldo
Benfica have reported Cristiano Ronaldo to Uefa after his antics on Wednesday.
Benfica have reported Cristiano Ronaldo to Uefa after the Manchester United wide man made an obscene gesture to the crowd on Wednesday.
Clearly pumped up for the occasion, the Portugal international allegedly gesticulated to the Estadio da Luz fans when being substituted in United's damaging 2-1 defeat.
After initially putting his finger to his lips to urge the fans to be silent, he is reported to have raised a digit in the direction of the Benfica supporters.
The former Sporting star could face disciplinary action if Uefa decide to take the matter further.
As reported earlier, much will depend on whether the referee includes the matter in his report.
"If the crowd had been quiet and kinder to me, I would have reacted in a different way," Ronaldo told Record.
"But they were nasty.
"I tried to play well.
"I needed to be more patient and have to focus on the next chance I get now."
Ronaldo's antics did not seem to go down well with his team-mates as he was booked and later spurned the one decent opening created in the second half when he failed to find an unmarked Paul Scholes.
