Pep Guardiola has backed Bastian Schweinsteiger to be a huge success at Manchester United if he puts his injury problems behind him.

The German midfielder moved to Old Trafford for £14.4 million after 13 years with Bayern.

And Bayern boss Guardiola believes if the 31-year-old stays fit, he will light up the Premier League.

The Spaniard said: “I am complete convinced that he will do very very well at Manchester United.

“He is a top player, unfortunately last two years he had problems with his injuries.

“He was never in good physical condition. When he is in good condition he is a big star and is a really good player.
