Memphis Depay has been handed Manchester United’s famous No 7 shirt following the departure of Angel Di Maria.

Depay made no secret of the fact that he wanted the famous shirt – previous owners have included Bryan Robson, David Beckham, George Best, Cristiano Ronaldo and Eric Cantona.

The forward moved to United from PSV for £25m earlier this summer, whilst Di Maria left on Thursday to join Paris Saint-Germain in a £44m move.

David De Gea retains United's No 1 shirt despite the speculation surrounding his future.

Luke Shaw, meanwhile, has swapped three for 23. The England left-back said: "It's the number I feel comfortable with and probably the one I want to carry on with until I finish my career."

Belgium international Marouane Fellaini switches from 31 to 27.

Interesting with United potentially in the market for a new striker, the No 9 shirt remains available having been vacated by Radamel Falcao and No 2 is also free after Rafael's move to Lyon.
