Louis van Gaal admits Memphis Depay is struggling to adapt to the pace of the Premier League but has every confidence that his fellow Dutchman will be a success in the top flight of English football.

Louis van Gaal has highlighted the importance of an early victory for his Manchester United side in Group B

"He has played every game until now but it's not so easy. It's a high rhythm in the Premier League but he has to adapt to that high rhythm and he shall improve I think.

"I have to be patient for Memphis and the fans do also."

And van Gaal is hoping United are good enough to compete with the best in Europe, as they return to the top table following a season's absence.
