Jose Mourinho was left to rue two costly mistakes from his Chelsea team as they slipped to defeat at his former club Porto in the Champions League.
Willian's strike on the verge of half-time had already clawed the Premier League champions back into the game after Andre Andre's opener at the Estadio do Dragao on Tuesday.
But a defensive lapse from the Blues allowed Maicon to seal the winner in a 2-1 victory for Porto on 52 minutes, and Mourinho, while pleased with his side's overall performance, was left upset with the errors.
He said: "It was a good performance with two ridiculous mistakes. Sometimes you make those kind of mistakes and you are not punished but we were punished.
"The second goal for us was a ridiculous mistake. We watched thousands and thousands of repetitions of Porto taking corners and we were completely ready for that.
"In a moment where the game was completely under control and we were preparing a change you can see that goal was ridiculous.
"We had another similar mistake when they hit the post but apart from that the performance was balanced and defensively we had no problems, the defenders played well.
"We were punished by two ridiculous mistakes. The two mistakes are difficult to accept because they are from a defensive set play - a basic thing to work in football.
"To concede the second goal was like ice in the players but they reacted in a positive way and they played to get a better result after that.
"Diego (Costa) hit the post, (Branislav) Ivanovic had a chance with an open goal, we had a clear penalty. We reacted well so for me I don't think my players deserve me to be critical of them, apart from the two mistakes that are difficult to accept.
"I'm not going to point a finger at one player or another but two mistakes have cost us a game that was fantastic."
Mourinho was unable to taste victory at the side he guided to UEFA Cup and Champions League titles in successive seasons in 2003 and 2004.
And speaking of his return to the club, the Portuguese added: "Porto are a difficult opponent, it's a difficult place to come.
"The Champions League always brings a different emotion to matches. It's a big day for the crowd and the opposition players and it's a difficult place to win matches."
