Cesc Fabregas has denied claims that he is at the centre of a player rebellion designed to destabilise Jose Mourinho's reign at Chelsea.

Media reports on Sunday alleged that a Chelsea player was so upset with his manager that he would prefer to lose matches than win them.

Fabregas - left out of the team against Liverpool on Saturday as the champions lost their sixth Premier League game of the season - issued a statement on Tuesday morning refuting the allegations and said he was confident the club would turn their season around.

He said: "I would like to clarify that contrary to a few reports from some websites, I am extremely happy at Chelsea and have an excellent relationship with the manager.

"There may be certain individuals from the outside trying to destabilise this club but I strongly believe that we will bounce back and come good again."

Saturday's defeat continued Chelsea's worst start to a Premier League season and left them 15th in the table, 14 points behind leaders Manchester City.
