MNF: How Chelsea won the title

Jamie Carragher and Gary Neville pick out the key games in Chelsea's Premier League title winning season.

Antonio Conte's side claimed the title with two games to spare with a 1-0 win at West Brom on Friday and the Monday Night Football pundits took a look back at the key games in their run to the title.

It all started on August 15 and the first Monday Night Football of the season. The Blues beat West Ham 2-1 at Stamford Bridge to give Conte a winning start, but it didn't all go according to plan in the opening months of the campaign.

They were beaten at home by Liverpool before a crushing defeat to Arsenal at the Emirates. It prompted a change of formation and a huge turning point for Chelsea - who then went on a 13-game winning run, starting with a 2-0 victory away at Hull.

During the run there were big wins at home against Manchester United, Everton and Tottenham, but arguably the biggest victory came away at Manchester City.

Could anybody stop Chelsea? Tottenham gave it a good go, beating them 2-0 at White Hart Lane in January but Conte's side recovered to go on another unbeaten run.

Defeats to Crystal Palace at home and away at Manchester United followed but again they recovered to beat Everton 3-0 at Goodison Park - the game where Carragher and Neville felt the Blues clinched the title.

And both Carragher and Neville, speaking on Monday Night Football, think the Blues are worthy champions.

"They've actually run away with it," Carragher said. "Tottenham gave us a title race but to dominate the league in the way they have done, they are worthy champions."

Neville added: "You've got to celebrate every champion. November and December was when you look at them and thought they were a champion team.

"There were big doubts about them at the start of the season after what had happened last year but he got the best players back playing again. He got them re-motivated and they picked themselves up. For me, fantastic football is balancing defence and attack and they've had it all season."
