Purse reveals Mutu's fury

Birmingham defender Darren Purse has moved to clear up his tussle with Adrian Mutu, saying the Chelsea striker wanted 'afters' as the players headed down the tunnel.

The pair clashed during Blues' 0-0 draw with the West Londoners on Sunday after the former Leyton Orient man caught the Romanian with his arm in an aerial challenge towards the end of the game, and the bad feeling boiled over after the final whistle had sounded.

Purse went into the Chelsea dressing room after the game to see a friend where it is said that former Parma front man Mutu greeted the stopper with a verbal volley of expletives.

Purse claims the forward wanted 'afters' as the players headed down the tunnel, but said fellow players were able to intervene.

"I got him with an elbow by accident and then he wanted some 'afters' in the tunnel," claimed Purse.

"But the two goalkeepers and a few players came between us so it was over really before anything happened."
