Jose to sign Hedman

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has confirmed he is likely to sign Magnus Hedman.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho has confirmed he is likely to sign Magnus Hedman on a short-term contract.

Hedman linked up with Chelsea last week for a trial period as they look to bring in goalkeeping cover for the injured Petr Cech.

The Swedish goalkeeper, who retired from football last summer, has impressed Mourinho during his spell at Stamford Bridge.

Mourinho is now ready to offer the former Celtic and Coventry custodian a deal until the end of the season to provide cover Carlo Cudicini and Hilario.

"You can only have a player who's a free agent and I cannot find a better goalkeeper than him," Mourinho told the club's official website.

"He's been out of football for quite a long time, so he's not ready to give a fight to Carlo and Hilario yet.

"But I was happy with his personality, technical quality, with his enthusiasm to go back to the game so probably we will give him a contract to the end of the season."
