Eric Abidal says Barcelona will do all they can to keep Pedro if Joan Laporta triumphs in the club's forthcoming presidential elections.

Reports in Spain have strongly linked Chelsea with a move for Pedro, who confirmed on Monday Barcelona have received offers for him.

The 27-year-old's release clause fee has dropped from €150m to €30m, sparking interest across Europe.

But former defender Abidal, who will become Barca’s new sporting director if Laporta is voted in after the election on July 18, says they will do everything they can to persuade Pedro to stay.

"Players such as Pedro cannot be allowed to go," he told news agency EFE.

"I know him as a player but also as a person. He is a player who fits into the first team very well. When we won everything in 2009, the most important goals were his.

"The work was of the whole team, but sometimes you have to go into the finer details and Pedro is a player who always gives these details.
