Loic Remy says he is hoping to play a greater role for Chelsea this season.
The France striker joined the Blues from Queens Park Rangers for £10.5m last summer, but made only six Premier League starts during his debut campaign with the club, largely playing second-fiddle to Diego Costa.
Radamel Falcao's arrival on a season-long loan deal from Monaco in July saw Remy subsequently linked with a move away from Stamford Bridge, with Crystal Palace and West Ham among the clubs reportedly interested.
However, Jose Mourinho recently quashed talk of Remy leaving the Premier League champions, insisting the 28-year-old remains firmly in his first-team plans.
And ahead of Sunday’s Community Shield encounter with Arsenal at Wembley, Remy says he hopes to be given more of chance as he aims to improve on the nine goals he scored last season.
"I want to bring everything I can to the team and I just want to do more as I think this season will be more difficult than the previous one," he told Sky Sports News HQ.
"So, all the players must be better than last season and I just want to be better, play more and score more."
Meanwhile, Kurt Zouma believes the mentality of the Chelsea squad will be a major factor in determining whether they are able to successfully defend their league crown.
"The most important thing is that we are a team and when any player comes on to the pitch they must give everything. We are ready to do that like we did last year," the 20-year-old defender said.
"Every team is difficult to play, they are all strong teams. But we must keep going and concentrate on achieving our target."
