Jose Mourinho was involved in a heated exchange with a journalist who questioned him about his managerial past.

Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho says it is 'stupid' to suggest the form of his teams dips during his third season in charge.

Chelsea have endured their worst start to a season in 29 years, losing three of their opening five matches and currently sit 11 points behind leaders Manchester City.

Mourinho has taken charge of six clubs during his 15-year managerial career but has only led the same side for three consecutive seasons on three occasions - twice with Chelsea and the other with Real Madrid - and has never stayed in the same role beyond that point.

Speaking at a press conference ahead of Wednesday's Champions League opener against Maccabi Tel-Aviv, the Portuguese, who took over at Chelsea for a second time in June 2013, became irritated when questioned on the third-season theory.

"Look, my third season in Porto, I didn't have a third season," he said. "My third season at Inter, I didn't have a third season. My third season at Chelsea, during the first time, I won the FA Cup, the Carling Cup and played the Champions League semi-finals.

"You spoke about the third season and I am telling you that the question is stupid because the third season is what I told you. The point is that the question is stupid.
