Jurgen Klopp is the big odds-on favourite with Sky Bet to be Liverpool's next manager after Brendan Rodgers was sacked on Sunday evening.

Klopp would arrive at Anfield with a great reputation after leading Borussia Dortmund to two Bundesliga titles and an appearance in the Champions League final during his reign at the German club from the start of the 08/09 campaign to the end of last season.

Carlo Ancelotti, like 1/3 favourite Klopp, is currently out of work and the Italian is second in the Sky Bet next Liverpool manager market at 9/4.

Ancelotti left Real Madrid in the summer and the 56-year-old already has experience in England after winning the Premier League title and FA Cup during his two-season tenure in charge of Chelsea.

Ajax boss Frank de Boer (12/1) and former Inter Milan manager Walter Mazzarri (14/1) sit third and fourth respectively in the betting.

USA manager Jurgen Klinsmann (20/1), Southampton chief Ronald Koeman (22/1) and ex-Reds midfielder Gary McAllister (25/1), who was appointed to Liverpool's backroom staff in the summer, are other early names in the frame.

Liverpool manager contenders

We look at some of the main contenders who could fill the vacancy left by Brendan Rodgers at Anfield as the Reds search for their fourth manager in five years.

JURGEN KLOPP

Undoubtedly the fans' favourite, the out-of-work former Borussia Dortmund manager's philosophies are seen by many as the perfect fit at Anfield but he has never been tested outside of Germany.

CARLO ANCELOTTI

The vastly-experienced Italian is a three-time Champions League winner and has had success in Italy, England and Spain. Only last week the club had to deny they had approached him.

Who will be the next Liverpool manager?

FRANK DE BOER

The former Holland international has won the Eredivisie four times with Ajax and on Friday spoke about his desire to move to England, talking up Liverpool and Newcastle in particular. Despite a varied playing career, De Boer has not managed beyond his homeland.

RONALD KOEMAN

Another Dutchman, one who has slotted seamlessly into Premier League life at Southampton and appears to have an approach which would fit in well at Liverpool.

WALTER MAZZARRI

Relatively high up in the bookies' odds, the Italian was sacked by Inter Milan last November after previous spells with Napoli and Sampdoria, among others. No experience outside his home country.
