Liverpool Ladies boss Scott Rogers wants club to bounce back

Liverpool Ladies boss Scott Rogers is cautiously optimistic about his side's chances of success next season.
After back-to-back league titles in 2013 and 2014, Liverpool finished seventh in FA WSL 1 last term, one place ahead of relegated Bristol Academy.
Rogers recently stepped up from his role as assistant to replace Matt Beard - who has taken charge at American side Boston Breakers - and the 29-year-old admits Liverpool must improve in 2016.
"The target for us is to be competitive," he told Sky Sports.
"The league is so competitive now that I don't think you can pin positions down and say 'we want to finish here'. The aim is to be competitive and I don't think we were last year.
"The group of players that we have will give us half a chance of being successful and that has to be the aim. We then want to build on that year-on-year. Last year was a setback and we want to bounce back next season."
Rogers previously managed Blackburn Rovers Ladies before he was headhunted by former Liverpool boss Beard. And the UEFA A license coach admits he is relishing the opportunity of shaping this Liverpool team in his own image.
"I've been in women's football for five or six years now off and on," Rogers said.
"I started at Blackburn working under Adam Lakeland before eventually getting his job there. When Blackburn did not apply for Women's Super League membership Matt approached the club for me.
"I had to learn how to be his assistant and I learned a lot of good stuff but now is the time for me to implement my own ideas.
"I want to put my own stamp on this job. I want to play a slightly different way to the way Matt did. I've taken his good points, put them together with my good points and I hope that will be a very good combination.
"The players know my expectations. my standards are very, very high and I think they are more than capable of achieving them."
