Liverpool forward Divock Origi says Jurgen Klopp showed his class on Thursday night

Origi's second-half goal gave Liverpool a boost

Liverpool forward Divock Origi says manager Jurgen Klopp's inspirational words at half-time sparked Thursday's incredible Europa League comeback.

Having drawn the first leg 1-1, the Reds trailed Borussia Dortmund 2-0 after just 10 minutes at Anfield and were 3-1 down in the second half.

But the Reds scored three times in the last 24 minutes to claim an astonishing 4-3 win (5-4 on aggregate) which was sealed by Dejan Lovren's injury-time header.

Klopp roused his side at the interval by evoking Liverpool's memorable comeback in the 2005 Champions League final.

And Origi, who bagged Liverpool's first goal of the night just after the break, says Klopp's words had a major impact.

"The manager was very calm, surprisingly calm," said the in-form 20-year-old.

"That's the class of a big manager. You could see no panic, no stress, he believed in us and in the end it helped.

Jurgen Klopp used Liverpool's Champions League comeback in Istanbul to inspire his side at half-time against Dortmund

"He gives us belief and we tried to reward that, the belief of the fans, everything.

"The manager just said that we lived to play in evenings like this. We had nothing to lose, we just had to go. We had to play and show our qualities and believe in ourselves and, at the end, we could win.

Where does Liverpool's stunning comeback rank?

"A lot of teams have qualities but when you have a good manager who is tactically strong, and have a good club with good fans, then there's no secret. You can achieve great things."

Klopp sent his players out early for the start of the second half and, just like in Istanbul, they were greeted with a rousing chorus of 'You'll Never Walk Alone'.

"It was a special evening," Origi added.

"At half-time [Klopp] told us we just had to do everything to make it an evening to tell your children and grandchildren about.

"The atmosphere was a special feeling, the supporters received us very warmly."
