Jurgen Klopp has compared Claudio Ranieri's sacking to the Brexit vote and Donald Trump's election success.
As the dust begins to settle on Ranieri's departure - nine months after he became the first Leicester boss in 132 years to deliver a league title - the Italian's Premier League peers spent a portion of their Friday press conferences giving their verdicts on the news.
And the ever-quotable Klopp let no one down with his blunt assessment of a managerial dismissal that has left last season's lovable underdogs the target of widespread criticism.
The Liverpool boss, who is preparing his side for Monday Night Football's meeting with the champions, said: "A few strange decisions with Brexit, Trump and Ranieri. You have to ask Leicester why they have done it."
Klopp could be boosted by the return to fitness of Daniel Sturridge and Dejan Lovren when they take on the Foxes, live on Sky Sports.
England striker Sturridge was forced to return early from last week's training camp in La Manga while Croatian centre-back Lovren has missed Liverpool's last two matches due to a knee injury.
"It was a proper camp. Daniel tried but we had to send him home due to a virus," added Klopp. "He will probably come in today for the first time.
"Dejan Lovren couldn't join us [at La Manga] but he was running today and felt good, he could take a few more steps in the right direction.
"There's no long-term concern about his knee.
"Before Chelsea he struggled a little bit, in the warm-up it felt better but after the game the pain was too big for him.
"About five minutes ago I spoke to him and he was really well running outside and should be training tomorrow.
"He will be very, very close for the Leicester game."
