Liverpool awaiting news of Sadio Mane's scan

Liverpool await details on the extent of Sadio Mane's injury after the forward limped out of Saturday's Merseyside derby.

The Senegal international had a scan on Sunday and Liverpool are waiting for the results.

Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp will hold a media briefing on Tuesday ahead of the visit of Bournemouth and may provide an update then.

Having signed from Southampton last summer, Mane has been an influential figure in his first season at Anfield and bagged his 13th Premier League goal of the season when he scored the opener at the weekend.

The Reds went on to secure a 3-1 victory but Mane had to be taken off after the break, his left leg having buckled beneath him when he tried to block a Leighton Baines clearance.

Having received treatment for the knock the 24-year-old then collapsed to the ground as he limped towards the touchline, and he had to be replaced by Divock Origi, who soon got on the scoresheet himself.

However, Mane was able to leave the ground unaided after the match and Klopp said that the he was hopeful the injury was not too serious, although he thinks predicted that the player would be on the sidelines for Wednesday's match.
