Sadio Mane has posted a picture of himself on social media wearing a knee brace and may not return to action for Liverpool until next season.

The forward sustained a knee injury in the 3-1 victory over Merseyside rivals Everton at Anfield on Saturday and was replaced in the 57th minute by Divock Origi.

Liverpool are yet to confirm the full extent of Mane's injury, but manager Jurgen Klopp admitted he would be surprised if the Senegal international featured again this season.

"Sadio is not involved [on Wednesday night against Bournemouth]. I cannot say more than I said on Tuesday, but it doesn't look good and that's how it is," Klopp told the club's official website prior to Wednesday's 2-2 home draw with Bournemouth.

"It doesn't look at the moment like he could play one more game this season, but if somebody wants to surprise me with positive news then I am open for this. We will see.

"There is no final judgement. We have to wait for more assessments and then we will know more."
