Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp says his side stayed patient during their 1-0 win over Watford

Jurgen Klopp described Emre Can's wonder goal as "spectacular" and "wonderful" while the man himself says he was just happy to help the team.

The spectacular bicycle kick came in the second minute of first-half injury time, and turned out to be the winning goal as Liverpool beat Watford 1-0 on Monday Night Football.

It was the main talking point during the post-match analysis, with Reds manager Klopp full of praise for Can, who also picked up the man-of-the-match award, and said overall he was pleased with his team's performance.

"Obviously it feels really good as you can imagine," he told David Jones live on Sky Sports 1 after the game. "It was a difficult game to play.

"We started really well and we had these two situations and then we had to change Philippe Coutinho. For us, he is a very important player and on the bench you have Adam Lallana who has only trained twice with the team after four weeks out so it wasn't a perfect start to the game but I thought we were patient.

Can's overhead wonder strike

"We tried to create moments and the goal we scored obviously was a spectacular one… He scored this bicycle kick that was pretty special and it was wonderful.

"I would like to say I'm used to it but it's not the truth, especially not from Emre. It's deserved, what can I say. You need this type of luck in football.

"We had this wonderful volley from Adam Lallana who hit the bar and then in the last minute, I think Sebastian Prodl hit the bar with a stunner as well so we needed a bit of luck but we worked hard for it and we tried to play football as good as we could against an opponent like this.

Watford 0-1 Liverpool

"It was clear that we had to work and I think that's what we did. It will not easy for anyone to come here because Watford have really improved in the last few months so I'm really happy... I thought the boys did really well. We could have done better of course but for tonight, I'm fine with the performance."

Can has been in fine form since returning from a recent calf injury, but Klopp said he was not shocked by the form of his compatriot.

"It's not a surprise. In this moment, we have three experienced players if you like with Lucas, Georginio Wijnaldum and now with Emre," he added.

"We have all of these situations [with injuries] so it is important that Emre is a bit more mature so that's important.

"He's done really well in the last few weeks after getting over his calf problems. He has a lot of good performances but even him, he can play better than tonight but I'm not sure he can score nicer goals."

Can himself was fairly modest about his strike when speaking after the game and maintains that he is focused on helping his team, although did admit that it was the best of his career.

Liverpool's Emre Can surprised himself with his winning goal but says the three points were the most important thing after a 1-0 win over Watford

"I saw the space and then I ran behind. When the ball came, I wanted to header it but it was a great ball from Lucas. I just didn't think too much and I scored a beauty like that. I am very happy that I could help the team," he told Sky Sports.

"I think it's the best goal I've ever scored. It was a great time to score it and like I said before, I want to help the team and today I could with the goal so I'm happy."
