Lazar Markovic has been left out of Liverpool's squad for friendlies in Germany after having talks with Fiorentina.

The Serbia international is surplus to requirements at Anfield and has spent the last two seasons out on loan, first at Fenerbahce and then Sporting Lisbon before being recalled for a spell at Hull.

Markovic played 45 minutes in Liverpool's opening friendly of the summer at Tranmere but was left behind for the club's trip to Hong Kong to play in the Asia Trophy.

It is understood the 23-year-old winger has met Fiorentina to discuss a move but Liverpool are holding out for £16m.

Watford are also reportedly interested in Markovic but are not prepared to pay the Reds' asking price, making a deal unlikely.

A 30-man-squad travelled to Germany for games against Hertha Berlin, Bayern Munich and either Atletico Madrid or Napoli, but winger Sheyi Ojo was another absentee.
