Jurgen Klopp hailed his Liverpool team as "a joy to watch" following their convincing 4-1 victory over West Ham United at Anfield.
Ahead of Manchester United against Chelsea on Super Sunday, this looked a good opportunity for Jurgen Klopp's men to improve their top-four chances and they did not fluff their lines with goals from Emre Can (30), Mohamed Salah (50), Roberto Firmino (57) and Sadio Mane (77).
"When I woke up this morning I didn't expect a game like this - I only hoped for it," Klopp told Sky Sports.
"It was a joy to watch. It was a fantastic football game - it was fluid, flexible, intense, aggressive, angry and full of desire. I saw a lot of things I wish to see in a football game - it's not often a game delivers all of that, today was one of those days."
Klopp was especially pleased with the way Liverpool managed the game from set-pieces.Can's goal came via a Salah corner while West Ham rarely threatened from various free-kicks around the box.
"We always remember a time where everyone spoke to me about Liverpool at set-pieces, as we suffer from it," Klopp said.
"Against West Ham you can always get problems - they are tall and physically strong. We did well and scored one - which is a fantastic thing. The other goals we scored were fantastic football moments."
The victory saw Klopp's men leap above Manchester United, who can regain second with a win over Chelsea on Sunday.
Despite the positive swing in league positions, Klopp insists it's too early to be looking at the Premier League table as there is still plenty of football to be played.
Klopp added: "Manchester United have a game in hand, so we're not really second, we could be tomorrow or Monday - but it's not too important. It's important we keep our form and can stay healthy."
