Virgil van Dijk says he will "need to deal" with Cristiano Ronaldo during Liverpool's upcoming Champions League final against Real Madrid.

Speaking to LFCTV, the Reds defender looked towards the game in Kiev on Saturday, where he will be tasked with stopping Real Madrid's star man.

Van Dijk has already come up against Ronaldo this season for the Netherlands when they played Portugal in March, but says he will be ready for the upcoming encounter.

"He [Ronaldo] has been scoring goals for fun over the last few years and he has a lot of quality obviously," Van Dijk said.

"He is one of the best players in the world at the moment but I need to deal with him like the rest of the team needs to deal with their other players, who have a lot of quality too. We need to be ready but that's part of the game.

"They will be aware of our team as well. It's going to be a very good game, both teams have a lot of quality.

"I'm looking forward to it but the most important thing for us as a team, as Liverpool, we need to look at ourselves and play our game rather than doing different things."
