Liverpool defender completes loan move until end of season

Nigel Adkins is hoping loan signing Jack Hobbs can help Scunthorpe United avoid relegation from the Championship. Hobbs has joined the struggling Iron from Liverpool until the end of the season and could make his debut against Burnley on Saturday. He has been a long-term target for Scunthorpe and Glanford Park boss Adkins is keen to see the former Lincoln youngster in action. "Jack is a young player who we are looking forward to bringing into the club for the rest of the season," Adkins told the Scunthorpe Evening Telegraph. "He has trained with the Liverpool first-team all season.

"He is a very composed player and we want to bring him into the fold to help us achieve what we want to do - and that is retain Championship status. "I have got several good contacts at Liverpool with players I used to play with. "Jack was somebody we talked about back in November time, but Liverpool wanted to keep him then because he was involved with the squad and since then he has played in the first team. "But I have kept in contact with them and when we were made aware that Shelton Martis was going to have to go back to West Brom, we asked the question again."
