Liverpool striker Christian Benteke was delighted to get off the mark on his home debut for his new club against Bournemouth.
The Belgian scored the winning goal as Brendan Rodgers' side won 1-0 at Anfield on Monday Night Football.
The result means Liverpool keep their 100 per cent record at the start of the season, moving up to third in the Premier League table, and Benteke was delighted with the result.
"I think it's a great day, for myself and the team," he said. "The more important thing tonight is the three points."
Bournemouth produced an excellent performance, but Benteke hit the woodwork late on and admitted: "I should have scored."
Overall, though, the 24-year-old enjoyed his first appearance for Liverpool at Anfield, and also said keeping a clean sheet is good for their morale as they prepare for next week’s clash with Arsenal.
"I think it’s a great feeling, and it’s important for the confidence for the next game," he said.
"The more important thing is the clean sheet. We didn’t concede and we won tonight, so we go on to the next one."
