Liverpool midfielder Jordan Henderson is struggling with a foot injury, manager Brendan Rodgers has revealed.

The 25-year-old England international, who set up Christian Benteke for what proved to be the Reds' winner at home to Bournemouth on Monday Night Football, had painkilling injections before the match and was substituted after 52 minutes.

Rodgers said: "He's had a problem with the bottom of his foot. He hadn't trained for part of the week.

"He was taking some painkillers with it and he'd done ever so well to even be out on the field. He wanted to give it a go but you could see he was limited in his running.

"He's done great for us for the period of time he was on but it's important that we get victories and it's important that we have fit players on the field.

"Unfortunately for him, he was just in too much pain."

Henderson found Benteke for the striker's first Premier League goal for Liverpool on 26 minutes, after the Cherries had a goal controversially chalked off for a foul in the box.
