Arsenal have suffered a blow ahead of their north London derby with Tottenham after Francis Coquelin was ruled out with a knee injury.

The Frenchman's knee is swollen and that will prevent him from taking part in the Capital One Cup third round tie.

Coquelin is being assessed by the club's medical staff after coming off at half-time in Saturday's 2-0 Premier League defeat at Chelsea but his injury is thought only to be a short-term issue.

He is the only notable absentee because of injury from the Arsenal squad which will travel to White Hart Lane.
