Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger says he has complete trust in Alexandre Lacazette before Saturday's north London derby.

The Gunners made Lacazette their club record signing in the summer and the France international has six Premier League goals to his name already.

But he did not start the 4-0 defeat at Liverpool earlier in the season and was also left out of the starting lineup for the 3-1 loss at Manchester City before the international break, coming off the bench to score the Arsenal goal.

With Olivier Giroud doubtful, Lacazette is likely to be needed to face Tottenham and Wenger denied he has any hesitation in picking the big money signing for key matches.

"No, not at all," said Wenger.

"I have a big choice to make every time, big decisions to make up front. But he played many games, Alexandre Lacazette.

"He didn't play away from home at City, I think that is the only game he didn't start. I trust him completely.

"The decision is not made yet (whether Lacazette starts on Saturday) but it is a possibility, because he is available."

Wenger also confirmed that midfielder Jack Wilshere is in his thoughts for a first Premier League start of the season in the near future.

"Yes, he is very close," said the Arsenal boss.

"It is just a question for me to decide to start him or not, but he is ready to play."

Asked what Wilshere needed to do in order to get back into the England squad, Wenger said: "He has to keep fit and work hard, and that is what he does at the moment.

"It is going well for him. Slowly he will get into the spirit of (England manager Gareth) Southgate again.

"The creative aspect of his game certainly is a big asset for him (Southgate)."
