Arsene Wenger has revealed his admiration for the "respect" in sumo wrestling following the Manchester derby 'tussle in the tunnel'.
Former Arsenal captain and current Manchester City coach Mikel Arteta was left with a head wound and Jose Mourinho had milk thrown towards him following an altercation over City's post-match celebrations after a 2-1 win at Old Trafford.
You never can tell the guy who wins, he doesn't show his happiness because of respect for his opponent.
Although Wenger believes football always has the tendency to boil over, he admitted coaches should behave themselves better after the final whistle, and even take lessons from Japanese sumo wrestling.
"That's part of the importance or the intensity of the game sometimes," said Wenger, when asked about the events at Old Trafford. "It can go a bit overboard.
"It happened to us, it happened to them, it's unfortunate but, ideally, you would commit 100 percent on the pitch and be an angel after, but it is not always the case.
"I don't know what happened really. It is difficult to take when you lose a big game to see the 100 per cent celebrations on the other side. It's an experience a little bit like an offence.
"That's why, when I was in Japan, I admired sumo. You never can tell the guy who wins. He doesn't show his happiness because of respect for his opponent. That shows how deep the culture of respect is for each other.
"Is it something that we can copy? I don't know because it is not part of our culture."
Arsenal travel to West Ham on Wednesday night after a disappointing draw at Southampton and Wenger confirmed that Aaron Ramsey will miss the game at the London Stadium after picking up a knock at St Mary's.
"We lost Ramsey against Southampton. He will not be available for tomorrow's game," the Frenchman said.
"Everybody else, apart from the long-term injuries [to Santi Cazorla and Shkodran Mustafi], looks available. We have tests this morning to see how they have recovered.
"[Mustafi will be out] a little bit longer. He's out in training, running. The medical staff have decided that he's not completely ready. Will he be ready for Saturday against Newcastle? Yes."
