Henry reveals Juve desire

Arsenal striker Thierry Henry has insisted it was his decision to leave Juventus.

Ahead of the sides' UEFA Champions League clash on Tuesday, Arsenal striker Thierry Henry has insisted it was his decision to leave Juventus.

Henry left the Bianconeri to join The Gunners in August 1999 and will face his former club adamant that he has nothing to prove.

The French international claims Juve wanted to keep the him in Turin but his determination to move to The Premiership proved to be the prelude to a highly-profitable career under Arsene Wenger.

"I arrived in Italy in December with Juve in eighth place," recalled Henry to Gazzetta dello Sport. "After four matches Marcello Lippi resigned and then with Carlo Ancelotti I always played.

"I took time to adapt but in the end I was scoring goals and making assists. They wanted to keep me but I chose Arsenal's offer.

"I have nothing to prove to anyone and I am looking forward to the match."

Henry hopes Arsenal can follow the lead of Liverpool last season and lift the European cup and believes The Reds' elimination of Juve en route to The Ataturk Stadium may bode well for his own side's hopes.

"It would be sensational if we could repeat Liverpool's achievement," added Henry. "Like us, a year ago, Liverpool suffered in The Premiership but then they eliminated Juve.

"I'd like that to happen for Arsenal as well."
