Thierry Henry believes Arsenal need to make at least two more signings in a "massive week" for the club until the transfer window closes.

The Gunners were held to a goalless draw by Liverpool on Monday as they failed to score for the second home game in succession.

Arsenal have been the least active Premier League club in the transfer market, only bringing in goalkeeper Petr Cech from Chelsea.

And while Cech was the man of the match against Liverpool, Henry thinks his former club must strengthen in two key areas before the window shuts on September 1.

"It's going to be a massive week (for Arsenal)," he said on Monday Night Football. "Are they going to buy someone up front and in the middle of the park?

"If you look at the game (against Liverpool) they were missing a lot of players, so maybe they should have gone for more, but they still need a holding midfielder and a striker.

Jamie Carragher compares the performances of Simon Mignolet and Petr Cech during Arsenal and Liverpool's 0-0 draw.

"Not because they haven't scored for two games at home, but because we have all being saying it before the season started, before these two home games.

"They also have a massive game away at Newcastle on Saturday."

The draw against Liverpool means the Gunners have taken four points from their opening three games of the season, following a home defeat to West Ham and win at Crystal Palace.

Manager Arsene Wenger conceded that it has been an "average" start for his side, who have not won the Premier League for over a decade.

Ex-Liverpool defender Jamie Carragher thinks they are "not far away", but questions whether Wenger is going to buy any more players in the window.

Gary Neville didn't hold back when discussing Arsene Wenger's 'post-Invincibles' signings at Arsenal

"This is nothing new what we are watching," he said. "They win the FA Cup two years on the bounce and they are so close, but they have only signed the one player in Cech.

"He is an improvement in goal as we saw (against Liverpool), but you still look at it and think why hasn't he bought a better centre-back than Gabriel and why hasn't he bought a better central midfield player?

"You say it's a big week but they have had this problem for three years, I don't think tomorrow morning he is suddenly going to wake up and buy these players.

"I can't see how this week he is going to do that now, we have been saying the same thing for two or three years."
