It was another intriguing day in the battle to finish in the Premier League's top four with wins for Manchester United and Tottenham before Man City's 1-1 draw with Liverpool.

Second-placed Spurs' 2-1 victory over Southampton at White Hart Lane meant they opened a two-point gap over City in third and moved three points ahead of Liverpool in fourth after the pair played out an enthralling draw at the Etihad Stadium.

Meanwhile, Manchester United jumped above Arsenal, who lost 3-1 at West Brom on Saturday, and closed the gap on the top four with a 3-1 win over Middlesbrough.

"Tottenham got away with it without Harry Kane. They have got to get him back sooner or later or they will risk not making the top four.

"The two teams we saw today the managers will be saying, if only we can play like that between now and the end of the season.

"Things can change over nine or 10 games but right now I will say United and Arsenal won't make it."

"United will have something to say about it. They are poised to improve again. Both sides will be glad they are not Arsenal, who aren't really making a good fist of things at all.

"It was a good day for Spurs also because they created a bit of daylight with their win. It's going to be really tight because nothing's sorted out yet. There's a lot of football still."
