Everton to monitor Morgan Schneiderlin after he suffered minor calf injury

Everton have revealed that Morgan Schneiderlin suffered a “minor calf injury” against Hull and will continue to be monitored ahead of the Merseyside derby.

Schneiderlin injured his left calf early in the 4-0 win at Goodison Park at the weekend and left the stadium on crutches, but a scan and examination by the club's medical team has dispelled any fears of a long spell on the sidelines.

However, Everton travel to Anfield to play Liverpool in a crucial Premier League fixture on April 1, live on Sky Sports 1, and the Frenchman will have to prove his fitness in training before he can be considered for selection.

"Morgan Schneiderlin suffered a minor calf injury during the weekend's 4-0 win over Hull and will continue to be monitored at Finch Farm ahead of the Merseyside derby on Saturday 1 April," an Everton statement said.

"Schneiderlin limped off after 30 minutes against the Tigers and subsequently underwent a scan.

"The Frenchman will remain under assessment by the club's medical team before a determination is reached on when he is able to return to action."

Schneiderlin joined Everton from Manchester United in a £24m deal in January and has made nine appearances for Ronald Koeman's team.
