Everton captain Phil Jagielka admits he is unsure if he will be at the club at the start of next season.
The 34-year-old has been at the club since joining from Sheffield United for a fee of £4m in 2007 and is contracted to the Toffees until the summer of 2018.
Ronald Koeman is known to be keen to bolster his defensive options this summer and has confirmed his interest in signing Burnley centre-half Michael Keane but Jagielka remains determined to prove he still has something to offer next season.
"When asked about his future, Jagielka told Sky Sports News HQ: "It is not really about me and what I hope.
"Obviously I will get time off with the rest of the lads and prepare myself to go back for preseason and see where the land lies.
"I am delighted to be here. I have been here a long time now. I have got at least one more year on my contract and I feel as though I have got a lot more football in me.
"It is up to me to come back in pre-season and prove to the manager that I am not too bad and hopefully I can stick around."
Jagielka has been linked with a move away from Goodison Park this summer with Sheffield United, Sunderland and even Major League Soccer all mentioned as possible destinations but the former England international is not paying any heed to the speculation.
"It is amusing. It is the way football is. If there is a slow story day, obviously people will chuck stuff out," Jagielka continued.
"You can never say never but I am looking forward to finishing off the season well, having a break and then coming back all guns blazing and trying to keep hold of my place in the team."
