Bolton have been given High Court permission to complete a commercial deal they hope will ease their money troubles.

The Championship club are facing a winding-up order and needed special dispensation to proceed with the sale of a car park next to their Macron Stadium.

That permission, known as a validation order, was granted at a hearing on Friday and Wanderers now hope to speed up the payment of outstanding January wages.

A club statement read: "Bolton Wanderers is pleased to confirm that today, Friday 22 January, the club was able to obtain a third validation order at the High Court to allow it to enter into a transaction that enables it to continue trading.

"The validation order gives authority to the club to finalise a commercial arrangement with Middlebrook Business Park Ltd and the club will provide a further update on this transaction on Monday.

"In the meantime the club can confirm that instructions have been issued to expedite payment of all delayed staff January wages.

"The club again thanks all staff for their calm support and continued commitment to the cause."

Bolton players not getting paid during ongoing troubles

Earlier on Friday, manager Neil Lennon revealed he and his coaching team had provided financial support themselves for some of the staff most affected by the missed pay packets.

"I've got staff - part of my football staff and backroom staff - that are struggling to make ends meet at the minute," Lennon said.

"That's not a great scenario. Some of us have had a whip round for a few of them just to keep them on board.

"Hopefully when the car park sale goes through we can get a takeover done eventually and things can move on from here."
