Pompey man becomes Bolton's third signing of January

Bolton have clinched the signing of Matt Taylor from Portsmouth. Taylor has penned a three-and-a-half-year deal at the Reebok Stadium after passing a medical and agreeing personal terms. The versatile performer had been looking for a move away from Fratton Park after growing increasingly frustrated with his lack of first-team opportunities this season. Bolton are believed to have beaten off a number of rivals to secure Taylor's signature. Trotters boss Gary Megson was delighted to make Taylor his third signing of this month's transfer window. "Matt is a quality player who is very versatile on the left hand side. He is a proven Premier League performer who will bring additional quality to our squad," Megson told the club's official website. "He has attracted interest from a number of clubs and I am delighted that we have managed to bring him to the Reebok Stadium. Former Luton man Taylor could make his debut against Newcastle this weekend.
