Chris Eagles has delivered a scathing retort to former Bolton boss Dougie Freedman in response to claims he was a disruptive influence at the Macron Stadium.

Eagles, 29, left Bolton over the summer after making over 100 appearances in three seasons, but he had been out in the cold since February after Freedman decided he was going to move on certain players.

The Scot often protested that those he wanted to jettison were more interested in collecting wages than fighting for Bolton's cause, which has hit a nerve with Eagles, who signed a short-term deal with Blackpool on Tuesday.

"I believe Dougie Freedman was saying I was a disruptive influence and they never offered me a contract," he said to the Blackpool Gazette.

"They offered me a number of contracts but I felt it wasn't worth signing. I didn't like him and I didn't like the way he managed.

"He showed me no respect, which is a shame as I loved it at Bolton. I would like to thank Bolton and their fans. I've had to keep my mouth shut."
