Reading owner Lady Sasima has assured the fans she hasn't bought the club to make a quick profit

Reading owner Lady Sasima has told Sky Sports News HQ that her consortium has not come to the Championship club to make money and leave.

The Thai consortium bought the club from Sir John Madejski last year and they are now planning a £200m development around the Madejski Stadium. Royal Elm Park will include a convention centre, 250-bed hotel, ice rink, 630 homes, cafes and restaurants.

Lady Sasima has insisted to SSNHQ they are committed to Reading for the long term.

She said: "We have a big vision, a big dream that Reading would be a second London. We will not just make a success and pack our bag and leave for home.

"We are going to be here and see to it that the money is ploughed back into the town and to the people of Reading and to the club as well."

Lady Sasima has run 10 businesses, is one of Thailand's most powerful women and owns a 25 per cent stake in Reading. The Harvard Business school graduate indicates that the club's ultimate goal is to get back to the Premier League.

She added: "If you don't have a target, people do whatever they like. We do set a target that we will try to get there this season and if we can't then we go next season hopefully."

Lady Sasima added: "If somebody gives us a good price and it's worthwhile to think about it we may, but it is not the objective to break this up, to sell this, to make money."

The 79-year-old has been in business for 60 years. She attended London's Guildhall School of Music and Drama in the 1950s and has been a singer and composer. She co-wrote a new club song 'They Call Us The Royals' as a gift to supporters, which received mixed reviews.

She says: "I was a little bit sad in the beginning, or disappointed, but I've come to terms with it, that you cannot win them all but I heard that Reading fans liked it and they appreciate it because I try to write for them."
