Portuguese ace on trial at City

BRISTOL CITY have handed a trial to Portuguese midfielder Carlos Andre.

The 30-year-old is no stranger to life in England, having spent last term on loan at Walsall from Vitoria Guimaraes, and he seems keen to continue his Nationwide League adventure

Andre played seven times for The Saddlers, but failed to win a permanent deal.

He will hope for more luck with Danny Wilson`s Bristol, having arrived at Ashton Gate at the start of the week.

He is a free agent, having left Vitoria in the summer, and will look to make an impression on Wilson during his trial.

He turned out for the reserves in their 2-1 defeat to Portsmouth, but Wilson has yet to make a comment on his performance.

There was bad news for Portsmouth in the game, with striker Neil Barrett taken to hospital with a suspected broken ankle.
