West Brom have contacted Tottenham about signing Andros Townsend, according to Sky sources.
The Baggies are interested in the England international, who was dropped from the first-team squad after a row with fitness coach Nathan Gardiner in November.
It is understood Spurs are only interested in selling the midfielder on a permanent deal, with Watford also believed to be monitoring the 24-year-old.
Due to financial restrictions, West Brom would have to sell players before they can bring in new signings, according to Sky sources.
Townsend has two-and-a-half years left on his Tottenham contract and has been playing for the club's Under-21 squad in recent weeks.
Townsend was left on the bench when Pochettino fielded several fringe players against Monaco in the Europa League and the Tottenham head coach hinted at a move away from White Hart Lane for the winger.
