Five stats to tell your mates: Best scoring season for Christian Eriksen

Tottenham Hotspur's Christian Eriksen celebrates scoring his side's first goal of the game with his team-mates during the Premier League match at the bet365 Stadium, Stoke.

Tottenham tightened their grip on the top four with a win at Stoke and Newcastle moved into the top 10 by beating Leicester but things remain too close to call at the bottom.

Find out why Jonjo Shelvey and Steven Mounie ended long droughts and how Sam Vokes made the difference in double quick time.

Here are five stats to tell your mates…

Eriksen makes the difference

Harry Kane returned to the starting line-up for Tottenham's trip to Stoke but it was midfield playmaker Christian Eriksen who scored both goals to make the difference for Mauricio Pochettino's men in their 2-1 victory at the bet365 Stadium.

Eriksen put Spurs ahead early in the second half and promptly restored their lead after Stoke equalised. The Dane has now scored 10 Premier League goals this season - equalling his best tally in a Tottenham shirt.

Vokes is the hero off the bench

Watford had coped well with the threat of Burnley's two strikers, Chris Wood and Ashley Barnes, but Sean Dyche always has another big man to bring on and it was Sam Vokes who was the hero in their 2-1 victory at Vicarage Road.

Sam Vokes scored for Burnley against Watford just 22 seconds after coming on as a substitute

The Hornets had led through Roberto Pereyra's goal but just 22 seconds after coming onto the pitch, the Wales international came up with the crucial equaliser. It is the fastest goal by a substitute in the Premier League so far this season.

Shelvey ends long goal drought

Jonjo Shelvey has been in good form for Newcastle United this season but the one thing he had not yet brought to Rafa Benitez's side was goals. That came to an end as he scored the opening goal in their 2-1 win over Leicester City at the King Power Stadium.

Newcastle midfielder Jonjo Shelvey scored against Leicester, his first Premier League goal in 868 days

Shelvey curled the ball into the net to score his first top-flight goal as a Newcastle player and his Premier League goal for 868 days. Ayoze Perez went on to double the lead and the Magpies held on to move into the top half of the table.

Zaha return is helping Palace

Crystal Palace supporters will be hugely disappointed by Bournemouth's late equaliser in their 2-2 draw at the Vitality Stadium but at least the return to fitness of Wilfried Zaha should ensure they are a greater goal threat for the rest of the season.

Zaha's brilliance had looked to have given Roy Hodgson's men the win and the Ivory Coast winger has now been directly involved in 32 Premier League goals (18 goals, 14 assists) for the Eagles - no Palace player has been involved in more.

Huddersfield finally get a goal

David Wagner has done a superb job at Huddersfield Town but there had been a few nerves around the place after the Terriers had failed to score in four consecutive games. But Steven Mounie's equaliser against Brighton earned them a vital 1-1 draw.

Steven Mounie scored Huddersfield Town's goal, their first in 427 minutes in the Premier League

The forward intercepted Shane Duffy's backpass and put the ball into the net for Huddersfield's first goal in 427 minutes of Premier League action. It is only the second away game in 2018 in which Wagner's men have avoided defeat.
