Tottenham duo Aaron Lennon and Emmanuel Adebayor have not been assigned squad numbers ahead of the new Premier League season, edged them closer to the White Hart Lane exit door.
Mauricio Pochettino’s side had to submit their final list on Friday prior to the start of the new campaign this weekend and both Lennon and Adebayor are highly unlikely to feature when Spurs travel to Manchester United on Saturday.
The duo have not played in pre-season and have been training with Tottenham's U21 team with the pair likely to move on before the transfer window closes.
Lennon has been linked with a return to Everton where he spent last season on loan and reports claim Aston Villa are also keen to sign him - while Villa boss Tim Sherwood admits he is still hopeful of bringing in Adebayor.
After a summer clear-out which has seen Etienne Capoue, Vlad Chiriches, Lewis Holtby, Younes Kaboul, Paulinho and Benjamin Stambouli leave the club, Spurs have rejigged their squad numbers for the new season and the youngsters who made such an impression last season have been given more prominent numbers.
Harry Kane has been given Adebayor’s old No 10 shirt, vacating the No 18 that saw him score 31 goals, while Ryan Mason will wear No 8 and Nabil Bentaleb the No 6 jersey.
New signings Toby Alderweireld, Kieran Trippier and Kevin Wimmer have taken numbers 4, 16 and 27 respectively.
Dele Alli, who signed from MK Dons, has been allocated No 20.
