FC Basel's promising young forward Breel Embolo is the subject of interest from two Premier League clubs, Sky sources understand.

The 18-year-old has caught the attention of scouts from across Europe, having scored 11 goals in 36 appearances for Basel last season.

But according to a source within the Swiss club, Basel will not sell the Cameroon-born attacker in the current transfer window.

Both The Sun and The Daily Mirror newspapers have reported that Tottenham are in 'pole position' to sign Embolo, but the same Basel insider has told Sky Sports that they have not received any offers for the player.

Tottenham are on the hunt for new forwards, having placed Emmanuel Adebayor and Roberto Soldado on the transfer list, and they are close to the signing of the Lyon's Clinton N’Jie.

Sky sources reported on Tuesday that Spurs were pushing hard to get a deal done for the attacker and Tottenham have refused to comment on reports in France that an agreement of £10m has now been reached.

Sky sources also understand that Spurs remain interested in Saido Berahino of West Brom, whom the Baggies are understood to be willing to sell if they receive an offer of at least £20m.

They also like the German U20s striker Timo Werner, of Stuttgart, but the Bundesliga club are also keen to keep hold of one of their most promising youngsters.
