Tottenham have reservations about making a third bid for West Brom forward Saido Berahino, according to Sky sources.

Spurs manager Mauricio Pochettino is now thought to be considering alternative options as he looks to strengthen his strike force.

Spurs have already had two offers for Berahino – the most recent one being worth £21m – rejected by The Hawthorns club, who value him at closer to £30m.

Relations between the two sides have been strained since Tottenham first moved to try to sign the England U21 international and senior squad member.

Berahino submitted a written transfer request after the first bid of £18m was thrown out and he was dropped from West Brom's squad for their 3-2 defeat to Premier League champions Chelsea.

The 22-year-old also missed his team's Capital One Cup victory against Port Vale on Tuesday night and it remains to be seen if he will feature against Stoke on Saturday.

West Brom's first-team coach Gerry Francis has insisted Berahino remains their player and he is available for selection in that game.

Manager Tony Pulis feels it is too late to find the right calibre of replacement for the attacker, who is yet to score after two appearances so far this term.

Pulis has recruited striker Salomon Rondon from Zenit St Petersburg and wants to pair him with Berahino rather than split them after just one game together, against Watford earlier this month.
