Remi Garde has confirmed that Jack Grealish is in contention to start against Arsenal on Sunday, after being made to train with the youth team

Remi Garde has confirmed Jack Grealish is in contention to return to Aston Villa's starting line-up for their Premier League game against Arsenal on Sunday.

The midfielder has been back training with the first team this week after he was dropped into the development squad following a breach of club discipline last month.

Grealish was demoted 'indefinitely' having been pictured in a national newspaper on a night out in Manchester hours after a 4-0 defeat to Everton on November 21.

He was also seen out in Birmingham the following evening and the incidents came after he was fined earlier in the year having been photographed inhaling nitrous oxide.

Grealish had made 12 appearances this season - scoring once at Leicester - prior to his indiscretions and could now be given an opportunity when Villa host Arsenal this weekend on Super Sunday, live on Sky Sports.

Garde said: "Like all other players training with the first team after the U21 game on Monday, Jack is back and Jack is available for selection.

Asked if Grealish appeared to have learned from his time away from the senior pool, Garde added: "Only Jack knows that.

"I will still be watching very closely. He is a talented young player but only Jack has the answer to your question. He is in contention to start like 18 players or 20."
