Aston Villa set to sign Ahmed Elmohamady in next 48 hours

Aston Villa are set to complete the transfer of Ahmed Elmohamady from Hull City within the next 48 hours, Sky sources understand.

The Egyptian defender returned from Hull's pre-season tour in Portugal for talks with Villa.

Steve Bruce's side have activated a release clause in the player's contract and it could be the third time he has signed Elmohamady after taking him to Sunderland and Hull.

Bruce has been active in the transfer market as he looks to assemble a squad to mount a bid for promotion to the Premier League, signing John Terry as captain following his release from Chelsea and goalkeeper Sam Johnstone on a season-long loan from Manchester United.
