Cahill would return to Burnley

Aston Villa's Gary Cahill has admitted he would consider a return to Burnley.

Aston Villa defender Gary Cahill has admitted he would consider a return to Burnley if he fails to break into David O'Leary's first team next term.

Cahill has made a positive impression during a loan stint at Turf Moor and will head back to the Midlands in the summer with his confidence on a high.

The teenager is looking to make the step up into The Premiership next term, but admits he would consider donning the Burnley shirt again in the future if things do not work out at Villa Park.

"Hopefully things will go well when I go back," Cahill told Burnley's website.

"If I went back and I was still playing reserves, definitely, I would be knocking on the door and saying `what's happening?' because I'll be wanting to push on when I go back.

"It's always an option (to return to Burnley) if the manager thinks I'm not quite ready yet."
